About therapy

People seek therapy for many different reasons, and there's no one size fits all, right or wrong, or specific 'type of person' that can come to therapy. No problem is too big or small.

Here are some things that people often say they would like to get out of therapy:

  • To feel less anxious, depressed, or overwhelmed, and be less triggered by things

  • To break negative patterns that seem to play out in my life or relationships

  • Having a chance to explore things that happened in childhood, and talk about them in a non judgemental space

  • To have higher self-esteem and less negative self-talk

  • To understand why I always seem to self-sabotage

  • To be more confident in myself, to realise that I'm good enough

  • To identify who I truly am - my dreams, wishes, plans for future career

  • To talk through an issue or situation that happened in my family or relationship and that's had a negative impact

  • To process past events and patterns that have influenced my behaviour and life choices

  • To let go of self-limiting beliefs that are keeping me stuck

  • To feel safe in my body and be able to calm myself down when stressed

  • To feel confident to live a life in alignment with my values

  • To let go of grief I have held inside for a long time

  • To stop worrying so much about what other people think of me

Therapy can help you to deal with what is holding you back, so you can move forward with more confidence and fulfilment.

Therapy can help you become aware of what holds you back, so you can move forward with more confidence

How I work

Therapy is a personal exploration of your thoughts, feelings and body sensations in a supportive setting.

I take a holistic perspective on emotional well-being where mind, body and feelings are all important for good emotional health.

Integrative psychotherapy uses different modalities for a truly unique, in-depth approach.
I use the following modalities in my work:

1. Therapeutic conversation - in each session, we talk and reflect together on the things that you bring

2. Somatic methods - I help you to gently tune inward and notice what's happening in your body as we talk. I may guide you through some gentle breathing or grounding techniques that you can also do at home.

3. Creative arts therapy - using simple techniques such as drawing or online creative tools can add a different dimension to thinking about feelings or experiences that may be difficult to express verbally.

4. Psycho-education - if appropriate, I will explain how the body and mind respond to stress and trauma, to help you better understand triggers and feelings that you may experience day to day.

Each session will centre around what you decide to bring - there is no set agenda or format that we need to follow.
